Charlie the Cavalier Travels the World is Now Avaliable

Author Lisa Rusczyk Illustrator Magdalena Takac

The second Charlie the Cavalier book is out called Charlie the Cavalier Travels the World.  You can preorder now and the paperback book will be out soon.  I got to work together again with my favorite illustator Magdalena on another amazing book. This book is a little different than the first as Charlie travels on his own to many places. Places that Charlie travels includes: Central Park, NYC, New York, Niagara Falls, Niagara, Canada, Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Big Ben, London, England, Prague Castle, Prague, Czech Republic, Eiffel Tower, Paris, France, Gondola on Canal, Venice, Italy, Pyramids, Giza, Egypt, Great Wall of China, China, and Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia.

At the end of the book is THE Charlie the Cavalier song written by The Oracular Beard Jared Conti. Charlie the Cavalier Travels the Worldbring together many travel opportunities that I have had in the past.  I love to share them with children. I also includes some of my favorite things such as cavaliers, piper airplanes, and roller coasters. While away he will video chat, send post cards, call on the phone, and text the people he misses at home. He even bring home his best friend Lilly a present. A great way to show kids how you will stay connected while you are away from home. Kids will also learn different landmarks around the world. So far the theme of the two book is for children to know they are loved even when their loved ones can't be in the same physical location as them. Charlie the Cavalier Travels the World is available at Amazon.

You really want your loved ones to stay.

But sometimes they just have to go away.

You can’t always be in the same place.

And you can’t possibly fit in their suitcase!

But Charlie the Cavalier can!

In this infectious rhyming read-aloud, Charlie the Cavalier travels with the little girls Mom to the airport and beyond when the little girl has to stay home. The little girl is confident that when her Mom travels with Charlie that he will protect, entertain, and get her Mom back home safely. Children will relate to the little girls need for comfort when a family member is away, as much as parents will appreciate Charlie the Cavaliers reassuring message.

The book comes with a link to a printable Charlie the Cavalier Puppet. Follow the link, print out, and assemble Charlie the Cavalier puppet to bring Charlie to life while reading this book to a child at the same place or while video chatting.

Charlie the Cavalier Begs for Attention

Review

GREAT FOR WHEN DAD TRAVELS- Last night I had my husband read Charlie the Cavalier Begs for Attention with my girls and they loved it. I created a hand puppet for each girl and they sat on his lap all smiles. My husband travels frequently and can be gone for anywhere from an extended weekend to a year and a half at a time. I'm going to have him start reading this book more frequently with the girls, then when he's away it will be fun for them to interact on video chat together, both reading the book together and playing with the puppets! The rhyming and flow of the book are great making it an easy read. As my daughter learns to read more, she'll do a great job practicing reading rhythm with this book. Excellent choice!
SUCH A CUTE BOOK!  My 4 year old absolutely loved this story! I know that when I end up traveling that i'll be bringing a copy with me as well to read with him over Skype, though I do believe his favorite part was the making of the puppet together. The story even made me smile a bit while reading it with him. I have a feeling this is a new favorite here!
MUST HAVE FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES! I thought this was one of the cutest books I have ever read for children! I love Cavaliers I think they are the most awesome dogs, so this book appealed to me on that level as well :) And what kid doesn't love a free hand-puppet? The colored illustrations are beautiful, and they will appeal to children very easily. The author does a wonderful job of rhyming and I may be 38 years old but I laughed :) "Olive You"! Must have, must read and must play along with the puppet even if you are an adult!

From the Author

Keeping children's attention while video chatting is difficult.  When I would Skype with my daughter she sometimes would not be interested.  The Charlie the Cavalier Book and puppet keeps my daughter interested in spending time together even when we are apart.  I hope Charlie the Cavalier will bring a smile to the children in your life.

Being Separated From Loved Ones Is Difficult for Children and Adults

Every child need to be left by a loved one at one time for another, no matter how much the loved one wants to be with their child.  When people are separated by space, children want to know that there family member loves them and will be there for them.  They may try to video chat with their loved ones but not be able to get the attention of small children.  Charlie the Cavalier teaches children that their loved ones are safe and allows them to interact with loved one though being entertained while skyping.

Charlie the Cavalier Begs for Attention gets kids excited to interact by teaching families how to sing, whistle, dance, play games, and more while video chatting. The Charlie the Cavalier puppet started with a little girl who did not want to Skype with her family members that did not live close to home.  She wanted to interact but there was nothing that sparked her interest.

Who is this book for?

Charlie the Cavalier Begs for Attention is for children between 2 and 6.  Happy customers have also bought this book for a newborn – just like clothes, they’ll grow into it!  A great baby shower gift.  The puppet can be used with or without video chatting.

Reviews from Parents

I just read this fun book with my three Grandkids, ranging in age from 6-20 months and it is such a fun book.  The kids all love it and now we are telling even more knock knock jokes, even the 20 month old. This story kept all of the kids engaged and the illustrations are fantastically bright and wonderful. We all had so much fun reading the book. Great read and I’m happy we got to read it. -Kathleen,  from the Fearless Creative Mamas Blog
I think this is a great way to engage children when they are away from a loved one. It is also a really good way to occupy small ones when they happen to get stuck in an adult only environment. They are left feeling a part of the activity and well loved. Charlie the Cavalier is a wonderful read for children, be it at bedtime, when loved ones are away and on Skype or just an everyday rhyme. The words are catchy and engaging for young children.  -Pam Andrews, Mom
Charlie the Cavalier is an adorable read along story for kids. It is written with a nice rhyme and the pictures would be great for kids. I would have liked a story line but the book works as a nice comforting read when loved ones are far away. Don’t forget the free downloadable bonus, great for the kids too. -Kevin S., Dad

Energy saving tips for down-sizing budgets

There are lots of ways to save energy even if you have a very low budget. Some people think they have to go all out and change the loft, insulate the walls and generally make the home more modern in order to save money on energy bills. This is not the case though as there are so many ways you can save moneyon energy without having to spend any cash upfront. Read on for a handy guide on how to save energy when you have a very low budget.

Reduce temperatures
If you set your washing machine to wash clothes at 30 degrees as opposed to 40 you will save lots of energy over the course of a year. Washing at a lower temperature takes less energy, and your clothes will still get washed so you probably won’t even notice the difference. If your clothes are heavily soiled, why not try soaking them overnight in cold water and then washing them at 30 degrees as opposed to 40 as you may find that this does just as good a job! So, with a little extra effort and some more careful planning, you can really cut down on those energy bills just by switching from 40 to 30 degree washes.

Be careful
Saving energy has a lot to do with just taking care regarding energy consumption as it does about investing in hi-tech gadgets. If you switch off your internet router, TV and appliances that have a ‘standby’ mode you can save lots of energy over the course of a year. Using a high speed internet connection from a provider like Mobi-data.co.uk means you will save energy as a result of not having things like laptops on for any more time than they need to be on for!

Be a thrifty dish washer
If you wash dishes by hand make sure you wash the dishes in a bowl or in the sink using a plug to stop the water as opposed to using a running tap. This will save lots of energy and there is no downside as your dishes are just as sparkly as they are washed in running water.

Watch chargers
Leaving chargers on when they don’t need to be on is a surefire way to waste energy so be careful to switch chargers offwhen they are not in use. Leaving chargers in the socket, switched on can become a habit for some people who think this does not really make a difference. Actually when chargers are on they use energy even if there is nothing to charge! Many do not have an automatic switch – off mode, so changing your attitude to chargers can really add up to huge savings in the long run.

Are you really cold?

Asking yourself if you are really cold before you switch on the heat can be a very smart way to save energy as some people just get into the routine of switching on the heat every evening or leaving the heat to come on automatically. If you ask yourself if you really need to heat you will be able to switch it off when you don’t really need it.

Royal Fluff- My First Cloth Diaper!

Ok I admit I was not sure if I should do a review on a cloth diaper.  My daughter is 2 and we never tried one.  But now we are potty training.  And my husband understand there is going to be some smelly clothes in his washer and he is more ok with that.

So far this thing is a beauty!  3 sets of snaps, sturdy, and cute fabric.  I am not sure how long it will hold up but great for the potty training phase as we will call it underwear (shh don't tell her) and when she has an accident she will feel it and we can keep moving forward.  I guess what I am trying to say is the fabric is amazing on this thing but I really have no idea if it would last though 4 kids because I had not tried it.  But this one might just do it!

Breastfeeding Advice for New Moms

Breastfeeding for the first time can be intimidating, especially if you are a new, first time mom. Don’t pressure yourself too much, it does take some time to get the hang of it. The important thing is not to give up and just keep trying. Also, try some of these tips to make breastfeeding go more smoothly. Watch your baby for hunger cues. Before they start crying, babies tend to search for food with their mouth (this is called rooting). Once you see the baby doing this, get started on breastfeeding right away. This will help your bond with the baby as well as establish a secure attachment. Ask a lactation consultant. Whether you’re in the hospital or at home, a lactation consultant is usually readily available by phone. They are specially trained in breastfeeding and can give you specialized tips to help maximize your experience. Create a relaxing environment where you will breastfeed. This will help calm you and the baby making breastfeeding easier. Have everything you need within arm’s reach. If you want, have someone in there with you for support or for any needs that may arise. Eat a healthy diet. What you eat, your baby will eat. It is important to eat many well balanced meals. Follow your hunger as a guide to how much you need to eat. Generally, breastfeeding women need 500 more calories a day. Also, wash fruit and vegetables carefully as they may have pesticides on them. Be extra careful to avoid anything that may harm the baby. Breastfeeding is a great time for both baby and mother. Some do not get the hang of it right away while others latch on quickly. It is best to keep trying and ask for help when you need it.

Surpahs Touch Anti-Fingerprint Precision Digital Kitchen Food Scale w/ LED Display and Bamboo Cutting Board Review

Surpahs Touch Anti-Fingerprint Precision Digital Kitchen Food Scale w/ LED Displayand Bamboo Cutting Board came from Amazon today and I love them both.  I am going to keep these cutting boards for fruit and vegetables only.  They are not dish washer safe.

This scale is so much nicer then the ones my mom use to have when I was young.  This scale will fit in a drawer, looks nice on the counter, and it very easy to use.   I think the price is great for both of these items and would recommend them.
